I am selling my Laptop
So after having an sweet affair with my 4520 Laptop I am breaking relation with her now she will sit on someone else lap. Next purchase in my mind is Dell 1520 its not fix yet but this time I want to go with Intel then AMD.

Acer 4520 Review
Talking about the Features that this laptop has to offer is simple in one word its loaded with all luxury, only drawback I found is its heating problem which got worse as its not compatible with latest AMD PowerNow feature (PowerNow reduces speed of cores to keep laptop cooler and save power when you are using it for normal day to day work like editing office documents or surfing web) I was damn frustrated with this thing as when i was referring specs it was told that this CPU supports PowerNow Technology (AMD 64 X2 Mobile Technology - Athlon TK-53/TK-55 (1.70/1.80 GHz, 2x 256 KB L2 cache), supporting AMD PowerNow! technology and AMD HyperTransport technology
NVIDIA nForce 610M (MCP67-MV)) but at my surprise it didn’t and due to this battery with full charge drains out in just 1 Hr this was something which no one expect from their laptop. I realized that I have done a big mistake I wrote to AMD and Acer about this issue and it was of no use.
I called Acer call center and they were not aware of PowerNow feature at all, they told me to visit Acer service center for more support. And I knew its not going to help me either. CPU drivers downloaded from AMD website just refused to install and I was helpless, when I got AMD answer that “AMD utilities could be due to incompatibility of the BIOS with Cool’n’Quiet technology” I was sure that I am in big mess but then as an IT professional I searched web for Drivers and I managed to find old CPU drivers and things turned out on positive side I successful installed CPU drivers and also Other AMD utilities.
This resolved my 80% problem and now my battery lasts for more then 2:30 Hrs with normal office work and under 2 Hrs when using WiFi, also CPU heat is reduced as now CPU runs at Half the speed of original speed i.e. 900 MHz for each core. Hopefully this doesn’t stops working in future as I don’t know who is culprit behind Disabling or stopping Cool’n’Quiet feature of CPU through BIOS AMD or Acer but this is not an good example people who are not aware about old drivers will definitely suffer. I don’t think I will suggest any one to purchase this model or any other Acer models with AMD CPU as it’s not a good sign for people looking for a Value for Money deal. It will be better if you go for any cheapest model with Intel Centrino processor. To be continued…..

I got it
Yes I have purchased Acer Aspire 4520 and I should say its a good piece of Hardwares and I am enjoying it. I formatted Limpus and Installed XP at present to see it performance and I am not disappointed with it. Need to Install couple of games and check the 512 MB graphics card performance as of now I have installed NFS Carbon demo but not played yet so cant comment. Rest of everything is fine.

Purchasing Laptop
Currently I am in process of purchasing new budget laptop for myself and I have narrow down my choice to AMD laptop I am not sure is it a right decision or not as when compared to laptops with offering Intel Dual Core there are some of the good options available from all companies. AMD based laptop are available only from HP, Acer and HCL. Compared to all the offering I found Acer Aspire 4520 a good choice as it has 256 MB dedicated graphics memory card and 128 MB shared which will make this laptop a good choice for Multimedia applications. But its price bit high as Croma & Ezone both quoted me Rs 34500 where in I am getting HP Compaq F733AU for Rs 27500 but when comparing specs Acer definitely has good upper hand.
